Bio
Dr. Richter specializes in cataract surgery and the medical, surgical and laser therapy of glaucoma and diseases of the anterior portion of the eye. Dr. Richter is a past Co-President and Medical Director at Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston. She holds appointments at the Boston Eye Surgery and Laser Center, Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Massachusetts General Hospital, and New England Medical Center. She is a highly regarded teacher of general ophthalmology among the medical residents and students of Harvard Medical School. Dr. Richter received a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry with High Honors from the University of Texas at Austin and was selected to numerous honor societies, including Phi Beta Kappa.
She earned her medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School; completed her internship in internal medicine at Boston City Hospital; her residency in ophthalmology at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary; and her fellowship in glaucoma at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. Dr. Richter joined Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston and the faculty of Harvard Medical School in 1982 and is Co-President of OCB. She is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and examines candidates for board certification at the ABO. She is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and at the American Academy of Ophthalmology. She has presented scientific papers and courses both nationally and internationally. She received the Honor Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology for scientific presentations and instruction courses.
