Dr. M. Lisa McHam specializes in cataract surgery and the medical, laser, and surgical treatment of glaucoma. She has a particular interest in cataract surgery in glaucoma patients, including the use of new minimally invasive glaucoma procedures.

Dr. McHam graduated magna cum laude from Duke University. She attended Baylor College of Medicine in her home state of Texas where she was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. She completed her residency in ophthalmology at Harvard Medical School, Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary and fellowship in glaucoma at Tufts. Dr. McHam is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. She is a member of the American Glaucoma Society and Chandler-Grant Glaucoma Society. She lectures at regional as well as national ophthalmology meetings.

Dr. McHam is past President of the Massachusetts Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons and past Chairperson of the Public Health Committee of the New England Ophthalmological Society. In her leadership roles, she has advocated to preserve access to high quality ophthalmic care for all citizens. She is passionate about preventing blindness through early detection and patient-centered treatment of glaucoma. She strongly believes in Eye Health Services mission to deliver the highest quality specialty care in a community setting, close to where patients live. She has staff appointments at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, South Shore Hospital, New England Eye Surgical Center, Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Milton, Good Samaritan Hospital, and Carney Hospital in Dorchester, where she is Chief of Ophthalmology.

Dr. McHam’s professional memberships include the American Academy of Ophthalmology; Past President of the Massachusetts Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons, Chairperson, Public Health and Education Committee; New England Ophthalmological Society; Interspecialty Committee, Massachusetts Medical Society and a member of the Chandler-Grant Glaucoma Society.
