Medical masks

Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston’s (OCBs) clinics starting January 8, 2024 will be implementing the below masking changes due to the recent high level of virus activity.  This is in alignment with policy changes put in place recently by other local healthcare organizations within our network. These changes are to protect our staff, patients, and visitors:

  • Your clinical team will wear an OCB issued face mask during direct contact with patients in examination, testing and procedure rooms and any other clinical care areas where direct care is provided.
  • Patients and visitors are strongly encouraged to wear an OCB issued face mask during direct interactions with staff in patient examination rooms and all other clinical care areas where direct care is provided. Patients and visitors do not have to mask if they prefer not to, unless symptomatic.
  • Masking is not required in lobbies and other common areas.
  • A mask is required if you’ve had known exposure to COVID-19 or tested positive within the last 10 days.
  • A mask is required if you have any flu/cold like symptoms. We highly recommend if you are feeling sick to please stay home for the safety of our staff and patients. This includes, fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea.

We thank you for your time and look forward to seeing you at your next appointment.

Sincerely,

Laura C. Fine, MD

President & Medical Director of OCB
